Restorative Justice Week

This flagship event begins Sunday, April 14th and includes a week of events across the country, including a conference on imprisoned intellectuals at Brown University
and a series of phone dialogues on topics ranging from visionary law to alternatives to prison.

The governors of Maine and Florida have officially proclaimed the week Restorative Justice Week.

The group also puts out a State of Justice Newsletter that should be available by the middle of April.

The With/Out Walls conference proposes to reevaluate the social, political
and economic contexts that are changing the relationships of education and
incarceration, discipline and control and to re-examine the aims and

practices of a politics of resistance. The gathering invites scholars,

artists, activists, policy makers, community organizers, teachers and

students to address questions such as: What do we want to know about

prisons with/without walls? What is critical learning about in and outside

of prison? How do we critically analyze the effects of different kinds of

oppression on incarceration and education within and outside of prison?
