Prison Moratorium Project will be having an

Open House a/k/a Volunteer Meeting

October 9, 2000

6 PM - 8 PM

180 Varick Street, 12th Floor (look for Democratic Socialists of America)

(1/9 to Houston or A/B/C/D/E/F to W 4th)

This will be a meeting to introduce new volunteers to Prison Moratorium
Project and update existing volunteers on where we are at since the last
time we met. We will also be talking about the existing campaigns and
where folks see themselves getting involved, and how.

Zolo Agona Azani a New Afrikan is political prisoner on death row in Indiana. Zolo has been given an October 25th execution date by the Indiana Supreme
Court. We need to write to the court demanding a stay of execution. This is
urgent, so please pass this info along to your friends who may be able to
help.

Dread Scott will be presenting the first New York viewing of his new work
"Lockdown." Lockdown is a photography-based project about people in
prisons and jails. It tells the story of a society that has over 2 million
people incarcerated from the viewpoint of the inmates. In addition to the
photographs, which will be taken inside prisons and jails, Lockdown
presents interviews with some of the inmates who were photographed.
